To get updates to Stata, connect to the internet and type
update all
You can follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update process.
You can choose to have Stata check for updates automatically, or you can turn that feature off and check yourself. To find out what is included in an update, after you have updated Stata, type
help whatsnew
in the Stata command window.
You will want to check for updates immediately after you install Stata, as there are often important updates that you will want. Also, please note that the updates that you can access (for free) over the internet will install point-version updates the version of Stata that you have installed, say from version 14.0 to 14.1; these updates will not update to a newer version of Stata (say from version 14 to version 15).
If you cannot connect to the internet, please see Keeping Stata up-to-date for information about how to update Stata.
You may also wish to update the ado-files that you have installed. To do this, type
adoupdate, update
and Stata will check for updates.
